Globalizing Networks of Communication and Exchange
The Eastern and Western Hemisphere are now able to communicate and trade due to new technological advancements. Trading long-distance allowed new cultures and religions to spread. Not everything was good, people from different places are immune to different types of germs, the mixture of all of these people often led to fatal diseases.
The Europeans created new technology, tools, and designs.
New tools consisted of Astrolabe, and revised maps, and the new ship design was called caravel.
The global trading-post was essentially created by the Portuguese’s development of a school for navigation.
The Columbian Exchange led to European colonization which caused many diseases such as, smallpox, measles,and influenza. Europe took silver from Spanish colonies to buy goods from Asia.
The Atlantic trade system moved:
Africa, Asia, and Europe adopted potatoes, maize, and manioc from the Americas.
The middle east and Europe imported sugar and tobacco as their cash crops.
Europeans brought fruit trees, grains, sugar, and domesticated animals (horses, pigs, and cattle) over to the Americas.
Deforestation and soil depletion in the Americas were caused by:

Government taxes went up when the merchants’ profits increased.
Innovations of the the arts consisted of:
Popular literature consisted of Shakespeare, Cervantes, Sundiata, Journey to the West, and Kabuki.

- Renaissance in Europe
- Miniature paintings in the Middle East and South Asia
- Wood-block prints in Japan
- Post-conquest codices in Mesoamerica.
