Migration was an significant and very popular during this time period. Whether it be due to the development of new empires, or for a better economic opportunity. Furthermore, during this time period globalization increased. Also nationalism really took form during this time period with new empires rising and other ones becoming more independent.

- Many reasons for migrations were either by choice for better work opportunities or because slavery, indentured servitude.
- There were also seasonal workers in Japan who went to the Pacific. Italians also participated in temporary migrations by going to Argentina for agricultural purposes.
- Some migrants resulted in cultural/ethnic domains in different or foreign areas.
- Indians in East and South Africa.
Not all like the migrations therefore acts like the Chinese exclusion law occurred.
